The Way of the Cross | Mark 8:27-9:1
Introduction
• ‘If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him!’ (C.T. Studd).
1. Peter’s Confession of Christ (8:27-30).
2. Cross Purposes (8:31-33).
3. The Cross-Shaped Life (8:34-9:1).
Conclusion
• When Jesus bids us to follow him, he bids us to ‘come and die’. (We do so, not because it is easy – but because it is good.)
• God’s plan is to win by losing; to rule by submitting; to be glorified by suffering; and so – finally – to live by dying.
• Every soul is incredibly precious to God. (Do not forfeit your soul by being ashamed of Jesus and his cross.)
• THINK! (Don’t be a lazy-brained Christian.) Meditate on God’s Word and think hard about how you can serve Jesus in your life.
